How to mine Ethereum: A step-by-step guide

This process can be somewhat complicated and time-consuming, but we've put together a step-by-step guide to help you get started.

Pick your mining approach

There are two main ways to mine Ethereum: solo mining and pool mining.

Solo mining is when you mine by yourself.

This means that you'll have to set up your own mining rig, which can be a costly endeavor.

However, solo mining also has the potential to be more profitable, as you keep all of the rewards for yourself.

Pool mining is when you join forces with other miners in order to increase your chances of finding a block.

When a block is found, the rewards are shared among the members of the pool.

Pool mining is typically more cost-effective than solo mining, as it allows you to pool resources and share the costs.

Choose your hardware

There are a few different options available, but we recommend using Claymore's Dual Ethereum GPU Miner.

Once you've downloaded and extracted the ZIP file, open up the folder and look for the file named start.bat.

Double-click on this to launch the miner.

Next, you'll need to create a new text document within the same folder.

Name it something like "Ethereum Mining Batch File," and then open it up in your favorite text editor.

Copy and paste the following code into this file:

setx GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0

setx GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100

setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1

ethermine.org -O YOUR_WALLET_ADDRESS.worker -I 17

Don't forget to replace YOUR_WALLET_ADDRESS with your Ethereum wallet address and the worker with the name of the worker you created earlier.

Now save this document and close it.

Double-click on it to run it, and the miner will start mining Ethereum on your computer.

You can also add this document to your startup folder so that it will automatically launch every time you start your computer.
